Stress or Urgency Incontinence of Urine

Stress incontinence is when sudden urination or leakage are caused by coughing, sneezing, laughing, or jumping. Urgency incontinence is when incontinence occurs spontaneously and unprovoked by muscular contractions. If you feel the sudden "urge to go" and have difficulty making it to the bathroom in time without leaking, you may be experiencing urgency incontinence.

There are a number of non-surgical or minimally invasive methods to overcome incontinence. Pelvic floor stimulation therapy provides relief for incontinence without surgery. In this process, patients undergo a pain-free electrical stimulation treatment to determine the ability of these muscles to contract and relax.

Typically, six weekly therapy sessions at our clinic followed by a custom exercise program performed by the patient at home result in 90% of patients having 80-90% improvement with no need for further treatment.

Overactive Bladder
  • Do you feel like you’re going to the bathroom too often?
  • Do you get a sudden, strong urge to urinate?
  • Do you get up several times during the night to urinate?

These are common signs of an overactive bladder. Fluid control, medications and Pelvic Floor Therapy are non-invasive, non-surgical methods of treating overactive bladder.

Incomplete Bladder Emptying

Another common urinary issue is incomplete bladder emptying. This occurs when you go to the bathroom frequently because you feel like your bladder never fully empties. You’ll notice a slower urine stream that starts and stops, along with recurring bladder infections.

Pelvic floor stimulation therapy is the non-surgical treatment we recommend first for incomplete bladder emptying.
